• Cherokee County School District is the largest employer in Cherokee County with more than 4,844 employees, including 2,581 teachers.
• The County has the following break down with schools:
22 elementary schools
7 middle schools
1 9th grade satellite (River Ridge HS at Mill Creek MS)
5 high schools
Chapman Intermediate School (Grades 5-6)
CrossRoads Alternative School (Grades 7-12)
Ralph Bunche Head Start Center and Little River Preschool
Polaris Evening School at Woodstock HS
NorthStar at Tippens Educational Center
• This school year 352 buses (12 additional) will transport approximately 70% of Cherokee’s student population (23,000 students a.m. and 26,000 students p.m.); buses will travel more than 4.5 million miles (1,500 bus routes daily) this school year; 12 additional bus drivers (total of 352) hired for growth and the opening of River Ridge High School and the Little River Preschool Center.
• More than 5,625,483 breakfasts and lunches will be served during this school year.
