Home Sales Rising in Cherokee County, GA

April 24, 2009

Cherokee County’s housing market picked up in March for the second straight month, but still is lagging behind last year’s sales total.

There have been 176 homes reported that have sold in Cherokee and that number could continue to rise in the coming weeks.

The number of houses sold is up from February-where we had 122.

The number of new listings on the market is also up from February-totalling 695.

Dick McBain, chief executive officer for the Cherokee Association of Realtors, said he sees positive signs the market is improving, noting brokers are experiencing more activity. Interest in membership in the association also is rising as more people earn real estate licenses.

“They can see the turnaround coming,” he said, adding he expects 2010 to be a big year for the real estate market.
